The Secret Life of a Stock Girl #8

I worked 5-11 last night, and 7-5 today. Perhaps because of this, instead of thinking of Ancient!John things at work today, like I usually do, I was thinking of random things I could post on lj - that is, while I was still capable of focused thought at all.

So, here's the list:
  1. The average number of items a shopper to enters the express lane with is significantly more than the twelve items or less. In fact, it's probably closer to 30. Which says a lot about people and entitlement and America's blatent consumerism.
  2. It's a deep and abiding sorrow in my life that, despite all the BBC I watch, I've yet to develop a British accent. Considering my mother is British by birth, you'd think I'd a leg up on this. But I don't, and it pains me. Though in the past week alone I've noticed that I've taken to using Brit-isms entirely without realizing it. I told my father someone rang rather than called and he just looked at me like I was crazy, and in the last chappie of "Advena" I had to correct from boot to trunk so as not to confuse readers a dozen times at least.
  3. When watching Sherlock for the first time, I paused in the middle, shortly after the point where Sherlock tells John they could have split the money his brother offered him, and ran upstairs to tell my mother that Sherlock is so me. Which is vaguely worrying, considering the profiling of Holmes people have done over the years.
  4. I've listened to The Airborn Toxic Event more times than is entirely healthy over the past week.
  5. I really, really should be in bed right now.
  6. The only reason I watched Battlestar Galatica beyond the first ten minutes was for this quote and this quote alone: "We decided to play God, create life. When that life turned against us, we comforted ourselves in the knowledge that it really wasn't our fault, naut really. You cannot play God than wash your hands of what you've created. Sooner or later, the day comes when you can't hide from the things that you've done anymore."
