So I fully went to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pt. 2 fully expecting to hate it today. I hated the 7th book, have had severe problems with most of the movies (except for the big fight scenes), and cannot give words to how much I disliked part 1.
But, lo and behold, I found myself loving this movie. Maybe because, from the moment it starts, everything's just one big last battle - hell, the whole movie is practically the Battle of Hogwarts, with the epilogue (which wasn't quite as wince-worthy as the book version) and the breaking into of Gringotts thrown in. It allowed you to forget that the whole Horcrux thing is the stupidest plot twist ever to come about and actually fall in love with the battle.
And, I'm sorry, but find me someone who wouldn't love what was essentially a movie-length HP version of the Battle of Helm's Deep.
All this being said, there is actually very little to say about the movie. It made me cry - Snape's death and his memories in particular, though why these, I really cannot say - and never gave us an annoying shoelace scene to contend with like HBP, but...
But I wouldn't take anyone under 13 to it, that's for sure. In fact, there are parts of the movie that seem darker - and, hell, better - than the book, and I wonder if this is becase JKR doesn't have worry about destroying her media empire anymore, as this is the last movie.
I'd see it again. Maybe not in theaters, but I'd definately watch it if it was on TV.
