Stargate: SG-1 S6 commentary

So, I finished season 6 this morning. Was kicked out of the house temporarily afterwards, so haven't started 7 yet, but I am now 132 episodes into the series.

Now, what can I say about it? As a whole, season 6 suffers from what most 6th seasons of TV shows do - ie, we've seen the best in season 4, and while that was more than enough to power season 5, season 6 begins to see that power start to falter.

Granted, "Redemption" has got to be my favourite season priemere to date, and is such an exciting story that it might well become join my favourites list. "Descent" was more than a decent story and "Abyss" was just such brilliant genius that I want to find the writer and give him my kudos for those prison cell scenes with Jack and Daniel, (particularly the one where Daniel's all "You think the Asgard named a ship after you because they thought it was a cool name? Now's not the time to play dumb, you're a lot smarter than that. They saw our potential in you…because of who you are and what you've done. Humanity's potential" and then goes on to say, "You're a better man than that!" and Jack yells back, "That's where you're wrong!" That whole convo seems to me to sum up nicely everything that makes Jack Jack), even if I want to shoot him for "2010", "2001," "The Crystal Skull," and, "100 Days."

But whatever.

"The Other Guys" was hillarious though - and gives us ST connections galore. And while I enjoyed "Prometheus," espeically the bit where Simmons is spaced, it's part 2, "Unnatural Selection" was just astounding.

The downside is I disliked several more episodes than last season. "Nightwalkers," "Alligence," "Sight Unseen," "Forsaken," and "The Changeling" were all rather pointless episodes, and don't even get me started on how much I despised "Disclosure" - which, more than being a mere clip show, which is terrible enough, was a clip show that didn't even contain any new material from any of our main cast, which made it feel like people were just being lazy around the script writing table that day.

That being said, I rather like Jonas Quinn. He reminds me of a young Robert Patrick, at least in the looks department, and his personallity is a lot less grating than Daniel's almost annoying naivity. I think I'll miss him when Daniel comes back. Thoguh I do like Daniel getting some proverbial balls and showing it up to Anubis like that in "Full Circle."

And Anubis being a semi-ascended Gould? And the original ascended are the Ancients? Tre cool, guys. Tre cool.

Now, I might go on, but Dad interupted this halfway through with another "this is what you'll do with your life - what do you mean you don't like it?" lectures and it's amazing I was even able to calm down long enough to finish this. I'm off to... oh, idk, bemoan my fate or something now. Or find decent SG1 fic, which I've still not really found yet.
