Passionate is the best word to describe Trebal. Everything she did and she believed in, she did with passionate intensity. She was a soldier not because she particularly cared about war, but because she wished to protect and serve people with an intensity that was daunting to many, if not all, of her superiors. This, combined with her frankly prodigal engineering abilities helped her to rise quickly through the ranks. Had there been more lintres at the time she reached the rank of legata, she would have been summarily given command of her own vessel, despite only being 27. The end result is that she was given her choice of postings and chose to serve under her maternal uncle Antonius' command aboard Aurora.

Unlike her sister Catalina, she learned to hide her passions from an early age, to the extent she was given the cognomen Trebal, which in the old tongue meant star thistle, which they claimed was as cold and prickly as she. But those who knew how to look saw her passion - which is, in part, what drew Ianus to her. Their affair was brief, but she chose to keep the child that resulted because she believed - rightly - that she was fighting to preserve Atlantis for future generations and there was no point in doing so if there were no future generations to fight for. Her duties kept her far from her son, who she left in her sister's care. All said, the pair spent less than three months in the same local before Aurora was dispatched to Elorus and believed to be lost - but she loved her son, as she had loved his father, as she loved her home.
