The Great SyFy Rewatch: A Prologue

In 288 days, I ship off to the US Navy, for basic training and, eventually, 12-15 months of further schooling after that. After Basic, I'll have access to a TV again, but the just is that, on 12 Feb, 2013, I'll be cut off from the outside world for 9 weeks. Add to that the fact that today marks the 1 year anniversary of my discovery of Stargate: SG-1, and, naturally, the idea to rewatch the entire 'verse comes about.

But then I thought about it. 288 days is a long time. Granted, Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis are big series - that's 15 seasons right there. But, even if I attempt Stargate: Universe again, that's only 353 episodes (+ 2 movies). If I watch 5 episodes a day, I'll be done in 71 days - 10 July, to be exact.

So then I thought: Why not try to watch as much SyFy in that time as possible. Not just SG-1 and SGA (or even SGU) but Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica and all that as well. How far could I get before my brain cells rot and the word star makes me cringe in horror?

And thus, a meme was born.

I love this idea! And good luck with it, too! I just started BSG a couple of days ago, myself.
I'm not a fan of BSG myself, but certain episodes are really, really good. The rest is pretty much... not.

Feel free to join in, if you wish.
I wasn't all that fond of it the first time I watched - and I only saw a couple episodes. I didn't care for any of the characters. But a bunch of friends said they didn't like it the first time they tried it, and *loved* it the second time they gave it a go, so.
Ironically, all the charecters I liked by the end of it were cylons. Go figure. Functioning spaceship wise, it's prob the mostr realistic though, (and the great frak chart is both creepy and funny).

The things I imagine ancient!john saying about it are hilarious though.
lol that's kind of hilarious. I was discussing the ships with the friend I'm watching with, and I was surprised by the lack of shields and such.
My thought process mostly goes:

Iohannes is a pastor. He likes AIs. He'd find their sexualization / demonization / having a religion ... unpleasant and would complain every time Rodney made him watch it.
He'd also mock their quaint tech, the human's religion, and their constant use of nukes.

But that's all I really got.
lol Iohannes really would, wouldn't he? *fond*

I wonder if Iohannes would love Back to the Future, too?
IDK. It's been *years* since I've watched that... I'll have to look on Netflix at some point to "refresh" myself.
It's been years since I've watched it as well. We know Rodney doesn't like the movies, so he wouldn't own them.
unfortunately, Netflix doesn't - at least not instantly. Which means it might be a while until I can watch them...
I may. But the first episode of S2 of Sherlock is supposed to be online today, and now I'm going looking for that.
