recruiting update #7

Great news! My new contract is signed, and I now officially am going into the Navy for Nuclear Propulsion. With a $11,000 bonus, to be paid after C School. The only bad news is that my new ship date is now 12 February, 2013.

Yeah, you read that right. 12 February. 2013. It's a long wait, but it's the program I really wanted... and the last female Nuke slot in the country, I've been informed, for the rest of the year. Le sigh. I'm trying to look at this positively, but goodness. It's a long wait.

Congratulations! I could attempt to sympathize with you about your ship date, but internally, I'm going, "Good, you have more time to write before you're stuck in a sardine can!" And you now have more time to prepare for the confined quarters and such. I'm glad you know where you're going, I'm graduating next month and I have no idea where I'm going next.
Well, after bootcamp it's like 12+ months of school for this job before I'm even on a ship, so I'll have plenty of time to write then too..

But I get what you mean. That, oddly enough, was a thought I had too. hopefully I'll be able to make some real progress on the Ancient!John 'verse before then.
Aarrggg about the wait, but CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's incredible! Enjoy life till then and do fun stuff, because I imagine you will be very busy!
Congratulations! That is a bit of a wait, but you're in! How fantastic is that? :D
So, after 6 years in the air force working computer networks, let me tell you, nuke slots? Totally worth the wait. You have to be intelligent and adaptable, however you get promoted faster, get larger bonuses, and are completly set when you leave the military.
Re: congrats!
thanks so much! I've not decided what I want to do with the interveining time yet, but I know it'll be worth the wait.
