Enjolras / Grantaire

these things take time by sonhoedesrazo:

  • these things take time: He’s always wary of making assumptions; even more so when Grantaire is concerned. He knows he’s not the easiest person to deal with. People either like him or can’t stand him, and it’s easy to respond to those reactions, but Grantaire—Grantaire is hostile and mocking, Grantaire scorns his beliefs, and Grantaire stays. (*)

  • this joke isn't funny anymore: Courfeyrac is a hurricane—albeit a smiling one, the sort you almost wish to be whisked away by.

World Ain't Ready by idiopathicsmile: Enjolras presses his lips together. He already looks pained, and Grantaire hasn't even opened his mouth yet. That's got to be a record, even for them."I need a favor," he says at last. "With what?" says Grantaire. "Ooh, are you forming a cult? Can I join? I'd be awesome at cults, I just know it." He ticks off his qualifications on his fingers. "I love chanting, I look great in robes—" (High school AU. Grantaire the disaffected stoner is pulled into a cause bigger than himself. Or: in which there are pretend boyfriends for great justice.) (*)

Silence Is the Speech of Love by lady_ragnell: Grantaire's life has a pattern: he pays his respects to Aphrodite, he goes to work, he loves Enjolras and provokes him because he can't bring himself to do otherwise. That seems unlikely to change, at least until Enjolras speaks out against the gods and ends up cursed. Grantaire does his best to help him, but it turns out it's just as hard to love Enjolras up close as it is from afar.

Find Out What I'm Feeling by Lady_Ragnell:
When Marius's girlfriend Cosette writes an article about Enjolras's campaign for a seat in the state House of Representatives (not to mention his attempts to start a new political party) and mistakenly mentions Grantaire as his boyfriend, Enjolras ends up pretending to date him in the media storm that follows. He's not sure why Grantaire says yes, but he's starting to want to find out.

How the Future's Done by barricadeur: "Grantaire," he says slowly. "What do you have in that box?"Grantaire looks up at Enjolras, his eyes very blue even with the glaze of drunkenness at the edges. "A favor," he says.

Gnomon by luchia: “This is what happens when you’re an international beacon of righteous fury and justice for the oppressed masses,” Grantaire says. “Everyone forgets you kill people for a living.”(OR: Enjolras is the leader of the 'militant extremist organization' ABC, and he and his human shadow Grantaire are somewhere in Russia doing shit that Grantaire can’t even try to explain - Enjolras is acting strange and something Grantaire can't name has gone horribly wrong and christ he should not be sober right now.) (*)

Oistros by arriviste: Enjolras has heard all the stories about bonded pairs, but he's always dismissed them as propaganda. Half the work is already done for the oppressive system when they can package your commodification as a fairytale, make you kiss your chains.

The Revolutionaries by kiyala: As far as Grantaire's concerned, nobody gives a shit about the bassist of The Revolutionaries without the rest of the band. He's absolutely fine with that. He doesn't want the attention anyway, and he sure as hell doesn't want all the rumours and speculation from strangers who seem to be able to read him a hell of a lot better than Enjolras can.

All You Have Is Your Fire by lady_ragnell: "A blaze like that, you could light up the city." "Or change it." A superhero soulmate AU.

You Dance Dreams by lady_ragnell: For most of college, Grantaire was hopeless over Enjolras, and everyone but Enjolras knew it. Now he’s worked to get over his crush, and for the most part, he's fine. When Combeferre asks him to choreograph and dance in the Midsummer Night’s Dream-inspired opera he composed as his senior thesis, Grantaire says yes, even though he’s cast opposite Enjolras, as Puck to his Oberon. The chance to dance is worth the potential problems, and he'll have his friends as a buffer. He doesn't count on long hours of practicing and choreographing and talking together, while they try to figure each other and their futures out. As much as he tries to avoid it, it seems inevitable that he falls for Enjolras again, and this time it isn't a crush. (*)

Love in a Coffee Shop by tellthemstories: Grantaire's a famous rock star. Enjolras owns a coffee shop slash book store that makes no money and is dangerously close to becoming hipster. One night, Grantaire stumbles in when they're closed. Somehow, that’s the most normal part of his week.

Jean Valjean / Javert

Acts of Mercy by cruisedirector and Dementordelta: After witnessing and reporting a murder, Javert is dismissed from the police and takes a job protecting the women in a brothel, where many of his long-held ideas about justice are challenged.

Patchwork Justice by manic_intent: Valjean as a caped crusader (with super strength, obviously) who gallantly saves our favorite inspector from certain doom, and as he turns to help Javert up... He gets cuffed, because vigilante justice is not TRUE JUSTICE.

Lucifer Falling by manic_intent: It is difficult to breathe. The warm, omega scent that permeates the mayor's office, comforting only moments before, is now damning, and Javert feels frozen, stiff with both dumb shock and outrage. The alpha side of him uncurls, angry and rattled at being upended out of control, and he takes in a sharp breath between gritted teeth, a low hiss that makes Valjean narrow his eyes and draw himself up to his full height.
